Vernell Magee Kagler

August 8, 1945  -  February 20, 2026

Vernell Magee Kagler, (GG) was born on August 8, 1945 in Franklinton, LA. to the union of the late Rodney and Vonita Magee. She departed this life on Friday, February 20, 2026 at the age of 80. She was baptized at New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Franklinton, LA. 

She leaves to cherish her memories, her beloved husband of 62 years Jimmie Kagler; three children Vickie Lajoice Thomas, Victoria Denise Kagler and Jimnell Toni Kagler. Five grandchildren Vontrelle Lillian Kagler, Jerica Laura Baker, Raynard Thomas, Jr., Jimmy Ray Kagler and Jacob Samuel Carter. Six grandchildren Richard Baker, Jamariyah Shantell Baker, Nevaeh Vernell Watkins, Ronald William Carter, Victor Ali Carter, and Kyle Joseph Carter. Four Godchildren Barbara Kagler, Brenda Kagler, Jerome Learson, Jr. and Danisha Cheatham. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, all of her sisters and great grandson Richard Baker. Vernell Magee Kagler will forever be remembered for her warmth, her culinary creativity, and her steadfast love for family and friends. 

A Viewing will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Mt. Kingdom Missionary 3756 Louisa St. New Orleans, Louisiana 70126. A Celebration of Vernell’s life will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at 1:00pm at The New Jerusalem Baptist Church 44030 Max Brumfield Rd. Franklinton, LA. 70438. Friends and family are invited to come together to share memories and honor the beautiful impact she had on their lives.
