Sally Luper Gainey

February 14, 1950-February 9, 2026

Sally Luper Gainey, age 75, was born in Tylertown, Mississippi on February 14, 1950, passed away in Bogalusa, LA. on February 9, 2026.  She was a member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church.

She worked for many years at Rutter Rex and the USPS in Franklinton, where she retired.  Sally loved her daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She spent as much time with them as she could. 

Ms. Gainey is survived by her daughter, Sandy Penton Mohon (Randy) of Bogalusa, LA;  her grandchildren, Shelby Foil (DaKota), Mandeville, LA,  Ben Mohon (Michelle) of Bogalusa, LA, Jennifer Polanco (Frank), Ocean Springs, MS and Amy Keaton (Adam) of Covington, LA.;  Two great grandchildren,  Liam Foil and Lilah Jayne Mohon.  She is also survived by her siblings, Bobby Luper, Jimmy Luper, Sybil Seal and Betty Amacker.  As well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lucious (Inez) Luper; siblings Larry Luper, Leroy Luper, Johnny Ray Luper, Willie Jay Luper, Nellie Hunt Sandifer, Elaine Primes and Pauline Branch.

According to Sally’s wishes there will be no memorial service. 

The family would like to thank, everyone at Foundations Hospice for their care and support.  Rest Haven Living Center’s staff, nurses, and support staff for their kindness and care during Sally’s battle with Parkinson’s and dementia.  Also thank you to the nurses and Doctors at Our Lady of the Angels for their care.
