Lavene Payne Stogner

June 26, 1942 - January 2, 2026

Lavene Payne Stogner went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, January 2, 2026 in Franklinton, Louisiana at the age of 83. Lavene was born to the late Elsie Branch Crain and the late Fred Payne.

Lavene was born on June 26, 1942 in Walthall County, MS. She graduated from Dexter High School, married her high school sweetheart on May 20, 1960 and moved to Bogalusa, LA. She was a longtime seamstress who was well known for making all of her families clothing, including her husband’s suits. She had a love for all types of crafts and enjoyed owning Crafter’s Mini Mall for many years. She also helped her husband in their dry cleaning business and did all of the alterations until her retirement in 2018. Lavene was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother.

Survivors: Husband of 65 years, William Levi Stogner; Daughters and Son-in-laws; Tana Walker (John) of Wiggins, MS., Nicole Wager (Dennis) and Sonya Burris (Benny “B”), both of Franklinton, LA.; Grandchildren: Jonathon Walker (Madison) of Wiggins, MS., Christina St. Pierre (James), Nicholas Wager (Makenna), Kylee and Benton Burris, all of Franklinton, LA.; Great-Grandchildren: Elodie, Mila, James Paul, and Jack St Pierre, and Stetson Wager, all of Franklinton, LA.; Sister: Faye Kitchens (George) of Bentonville, AR.; Sister-in-law: Rachel Stokes of Johnson City, TN; Brother-in-law: Shelton Stogner (Paulette) of Tylertown, MS. and many other special friends and relatives and her wonderful church family.

She was preceded in death by her parents Elsie Branch Crain and Fred Payne; Sister: Myrna Fortenberry and Brother: Larry Payne

Visitation will be at Union Heritage Baptist Church (20099 Caroline Street., Bogalusa, LA 70427) on Wednesday January 7th from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the church at 1:00 pm Wednesday with Rev. Bruce Morris officiating. Burial will follow in the Carson Springs Baptist Church cemetery in Sandy Hook, MS.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial donations to the Youth Fund of Union Heritage Church at the address above.
