John Albert Walker, Sr.
November 2, 1943 - January 18, 2026
John Albert Walker, Sr., age 82 and a resident of Ellisville, Mississippi, passed away Sunday evening January 18, 2026 at his daughter’s home in Foxworth, Mississippi. He was born in McComb on November 2, 1943 and served his community and country in the Mississippi Army-National Guard. John was retired after serving over 30 years as an electrical lineman and later as foreman for the different companies he worked with through the years. He enjoyed drinking his favorite Dr. Peppers and watching old western TV shows. John loved spending time with his family and adored his young great-grandchildren.
Survived by: Daughter: Tammy Smith and Bill Gay of Foxworth; Grandchildren and Spouses: Josh and Rachel Thomas of the Thomas Community, Marissa and Colby Wilson, Mallorie and Austin Wilkes all of Franklinton, Aimee Smith and Michael Goldman of Columbia, MS, Brittany and Scott Holifield, Hunter Walker all of Laurel, MS; Great-grandchildren: Kylan Martin, Hazely Goldman, M.J. Goldman, Lauren Thomas, Maesyn Wilkes, Greycen Wilkes, Beaux Wilson, Sadie Wilson, Bryson Holifield, Baylor Holifield; Brothers in law and Sisters in law: Johnny and Tooty White of McComb, Mickey Jones of Magnolia, MS, Elaine and Hollis Seals of Franklinton; Also numerous nieces, nephews and other family members
He was preceded in death by his son John A. “Tony” Walker, Jr., his wife of over 40 years Dorothy “Dott” White Walker, parents Albert and Gussie Walker, brothers Robert Walker, Kenneth Walker, sister Darlene Jones, father in law and mother in law Johnnie and Eunice White, brother in law Edward White, brother in law and sister in law Wilfred and Dell Bailey.
A graveside funeral service will be held in the Sunlight Baptist Church Cemetery (18184 Sunlight Road, Franklinton) at 11:00 am Saturday January 24th with Rev. David Easterling officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to help with final expenses.
