Vera Faye Bennett Easterling

December 9, 1943 - November 26, 2025

Vera Faye Easterling, age 81 and of Franklinton, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2025. She was retired after a long career as a seamstress at Rutter Rex and also worked at Eckerd Drugs in Franklinton for a time. Vera was a longtime member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. She loved reading her favorite novels and visiting on the phone with her family and friends. She also enjoyed sewing, and drinking coffee or hot cocoa with a side of something sweet. Vera was a woman whose heart was centered firmly around her family and friends. She cherished every moment spent with them—especially her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her endless joy and pride. Her warmth, strength, and gentle spirit were felt by all who knew her.

Vera is survived by her two sons, Joe Easterling and Ed Easterling; her sister Lenell (Charles) Merritt; her grandchildren, Victoria (Kraig) Schexnayder, Eddie Easterling II, and Joseph Easterling; her great -grandchildren, Ava Easterling, Joseph Easterling II, Koby, Kate, William and Vivian Schexnayder.

She was preceded in death by her parents Randolph Bennett and Thelma Miller Bennett, brothers Vernon Eugene, Gary Lavoy, Ralph and Melvin Bennett, brother and sister in law Marvin and Estelle Bennett, sisters and brothers in law Yvonne (R V) Rogers and Lucille (Michael) Warren and other family members.

Visitation will be at Oak Grove Baptist Church on Saturday December 13th from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. A funeral service will be held in the church at 11:00 am Saturday with Rev. Donnie Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
