Samuel John Alford

June 30, 1947 - November 30, 2025

Samuel John Alford, age 78, born June 30, 1947 and a resident of East Fork Community in Kentwood, LA, passed peacefully at Lakeview Hospital in Mandeville, LA on Sunday, November 30, 2025.

Visitation is 9:00 a.m. until religious service at 11:00 a.m. at East Fork Baptist Church in Kentwood, LA. Interment will be in East Fork Cemetery.

Sam retired from the Air Force as a Master Sergeant with 20 years of service. He traveled world wide serving 4 years in Spain and 4 years in England. He was also an avid deer hunter and fisherman. He always planted a large garden sharing his produce with family and friends. He was married to Kay Harrell Alford and they recently celebrated 25 years of marriage. 

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, his brother Harrell Alford and his wife Janet of Kentwood, LA, his sister-in-law Judy Alford of Tupelo, MS and his two sons, Samuel J. Alford Jr. and his wife Donna of Houston, TX and Jeffrey Alford Sr. of Kentwood, LA. He had 8 grandchildren, Jesse and Ashley Alford, Jeffrey Jr. and wife Emily, Joshua, Jacob, Jude, Shyanna Alford and Amber Escobar and husband Omar; great-grandchildren Alejhandro Alford, Cooper Alford, Melanie, Lawson, and Owen Escobar.

He also loved and cherished Kay’s children, Scott Simmons and wife Debbie and Brent Simmons and wife Beth of Kentwood, LA; grandchildren; Christina Taylor and husband David of Spanish Fort, AL, Crystal Morgan and husband Heath of Independence, LA, Renee Travis and husband Wesley of Livingston, LA, Koley Simmons and wife McKenzie of Ponchatoula, LA, Steven Simmons of New Roads, LA and Laken Carlin and her husband Kynan of Kentwood, LA; great-grandchildren, Emilee, Lauren and Addison Taylor, Taylor Morgan, Charli Kate Travis, Nicholas, Raylee and Riley Simmons and Logan Carlin.

Preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Mildred Alford, his brother James Alford and step-grandson Alex Simmons.

Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Alford Jr., Joshua Alford, Jacob Alford, David Taylor, Heath Morgan and Wesley Travis.
