Darlene E. McElroy Hazelwood

January 23, 1961 - November 23, 2025

Darlene E. McElroy Hazelwood, age 64 and a resident of Franklinton passed away Sunday November 23, 2025, after a lengthy illness. She was born in Houma La on January 23, 1961, to Kenneth and Ann McElroy. Darlene was a graduate of Franklinton High School Class of 1979 and attended Louisiana Tech University. She had previously served on the board at Regina Coeli Head Start and a Troop leader in the Boy Scouts Association. Darlene was a career employee at Moseley’s Jewelers. Darlene loved spending time with her grands, reading and cooking. Darlene was a member of Victory Baptist Church. 

She leaves behind her daughter Jennifer Leigh Hazelwood, Byron Barletto and grandchildren Jonah Hazelwood, Joylyn and Journey Payne. Her sibling Beth Brien, sisters in law, Terry McElroy, Sylvia H. Reuschel, Tami H Wareham, brother-in-law Karl Hazelwood, and several nieces and nephews. 

Darlene was proceeded in death by her husband of 40 years, Fritz Hazelwood, Father Kenneth McElroy, Mother Ann McElroy and Stepfather Floyd McElroy, Brothers Wayne “Bo” Jones, Barry McElroy and Kenneth McElroy Jr. 

A private family service will be announced at a later date.
