Jimmie Lou McKenzie

November 26, 1933 - November 21, 2025

Jimmie Lou McKenzie, 91, of Pine, Louisiana, entered her heavenly rest surrounded by the love of her family. A devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, she was cherished by all who were blessed to know her.

Born on November 26, 1933 in Tylertown, Ms, Jimmie Lou spent most of her life in Pine, Louisiana, where she dedicated herself to her family, her church, and her community. She retired from the Washington Parish School Board after many years as a school bus driver, faithfully and safely transporting generations of local children. Her kindness, steady spirit, and warm smile were familiar to many.

Jimmie Lou was a proud charter member of Hiltop Missionary Baptist Church and served faithfully throughout her lifetime. Her unwavering faith and gentle heart were evident in all she did.

She is survived by her daughter, Vicki Wood; her daughter-in-law, Joyce McKenzie; and her grandchildren: Michelle (Robert) Stuart, Casey Barber, Haylee Thomas, Joanna (Justin) Boweles, and Emily (Steve) Kurdika. She leaves behind her great-grandchildren: Trevor (Katlyn) Stuart, Allison (Dallen) Magee, Brody Stuart, Makenzie Stuart, Easton Barber, Laken Moore, Cameron Boweles, Dalton Boweles, Lyla Kudirka, and Austin Kudrika. She is also survived by her great-great-grandchildren: Emma, Parker, Charlee Kate Stuart, and Bennett Magee. She also leaves behind a special niece, Shirley Scott, with whom she shared a close and cherished bond.

Jimmie Lou was preceded in death by her husband, K.C. McKenzie; her son, Ronald McKenzie; her son-in-law, Rick Wood; and her parents, Jim and Maxine Freeman.

Jimmie Lou will be remembered for her gentle nature, her deep devotion to her family, and the faith that guided her throughout her life. Her legacy of love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Visitation will be at Hilltop Missionary Baptist Church on Monday November 24th from 8:00 am until 10:00 am. A funeral service will be held in the church at 10:00 am Monday with Eld. Mark Hobgood officiating and Robert Stuart conducting graveside services. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
