Hurricane Melissa, the only disturbance in the tropics today, is located about 120 miles SSE of Kingston, Jamaica moving west at 5 MPH with 140 MPH maximum sustained winds. Life-threatening and catastrophic flooding and landslides are expected in portions of Jamaica and southern Hispaniola through midweek. Melissa is currently a Category 4 hurricane and expected to intensify before moving near or over Jamaica through Tuesday, across southeastern Cuba Tuesday night, and across the southeastern Bahamas on Wednesday.
