Douglas Ray Turnage

Douglas Ray Turnage, age 83 and of Sandy Hook, MS, passed away Friday, October 24, 2025. He was born Saturday, July 18, 1942 in Improve, Mississippi to the late Gould and Essie Tullos Turnage. Along with his parents he is also preceded in death by an infant son; sister, Mildred Faye Ball; and brother-in-law, Basil Ball.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2025 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Carson Springs Baptist Church in 10 Thad Road, Sandy Hook, Mississippi and again on Monday, October 27, 2025 from 11:00 AM until service time at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in Carson Springs Cemetery in Sandy Hook, Mississippi. Bro. Bo Walker, Bro. John Talley, and Bro. Archie Herrin will officiate. Hartman Hughes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Turnage was a longtime member of Carson Springs Baptist Church where he served as treasurer, church clerk, and deacon for many years and also loved singing in the choir. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and was an avid sports fan. He graduated from Dexter High School in May 18, 1961. He retired as a shipping clerk for Gaylord’s where he worked for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Alford Turnage; nephews, Tyrone Ball and Wendell Stogner (LaNan); nieces, Teresa Painter (Mel), Renee Keith (Mike), Tonya Magee (Kyle) and Rita Crain (Jesse); sister-in-law, Mary Conerly; along with a host of great nieces, nephews, friends, and loving family.
Pallbearers will be Evan Smith, Trevor Ball, Jake Painter, Jake Keith, Chason Stogner, and Grant Stogner.
Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of Carson Springs and Glenn Stogner.
