Marvin Paul Marks
December 1, 1966 - October 4, 2025
Marvin Paul Marks was born December 1, 1966, in DeRidder, LA to Nevis Marks Sr. and Mae Ella Marks of Tylertown, Mississippi. He was the eighth child from their union. He was affectionately known to family, and friends as Paul.
Paul was a graduate of Franklinton High School, and he played football. Paul worked as a laborer for Creel Brothers before becoming disabled due to an aneurism causing a stroke.
Paul loved his family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them. Although he loved his siblings and friends, he had a deep love for his nieces and nephews. They held a special place in his heart and would always tell them before saying goodbye on the telephone he loved them as well as telling his siblings and close friends too. Paul was a handful to deal with but to really know him, he had a soft heart. Whenever his siblings came to town from Texas, he would always leave home right before they would leave because he could not contain the tears that would come if he had stayed to see them off. After some time, the siblings quickly understood what was happening with him. Those who cared about Paul will feel his absence deeply.
In Paul’s final weeks in ICU, God so graciously allowed Paul the opportunity to accept Him as His Lord and Savior which he did. Paul’s closest loved ones spoke to him about The Lord, prayed with him regarding his healing and salvation. Despite requiring a ventilator, he was awake on multiple occasions and understood what people were saying to him. The Lord Jesus received Paul and thus he has a new body in glory. Paul's family and friends will miss him deeply, yet they find comfort in knowing he is now at peace and restored in the embrace of our heavenly Father.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Nevis Marks, Sr. and Mae Ella Marks; two brothers: Larry Marks, Nevis Marks, Jr., two sisters: Karen Pleasant, Debbra Shanks, and brother-in-law, Stephon “Stevie” Burkhalter.
