Samuel "Toby" Walden Stewart, Sr.
January 17, 1949 - September 22, 2025
Samuel “Toby” Walden Stewart, Sr. passed away at his home on September 22, 2025 at the age of 76. He was born on January 17, 1949, in Bogalusa, Louisiana.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George Truitt Stewart and Sleena Loretta Stewart, and his brothers George Fornet, Les Stewart, and Rusty Stewart, and his granddaughter Hannah Wells.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sarah L. Stewart; children “Little Toby” Samuel (Cecelia) Stewart Jr., Crystal Winder, Sarah (Rob) Robinson, and Sheri (Jeremy) Pigott. 11 grandchildren: Samuel, Elijah, Olivia, T.J., Bella, Sophia, Bekah, Cheyenne, Brittany, Nicole, and D.J. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a few lifelong friends. Siblings: Bob (Carla), Archie, John Paul, Wilbert (Deborah), Edward (Michelle), and Treasure Stewart.
He was a decorated Vietnam veteran sergeant who served with the 173rd Airborne Division of the U.S. Armed Forces during the Vietnam War from ‘68 to ‘69, and he received an Honor award from Gov. Bobby Jindal and the State of Louisiana. He was a dedicated retired Washington Parish Sheriff's Officer that served his community for 27 years. He loved God, farming, gardening, hunting, coffee, and most of all, his family.
Services and burial are being held at Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church, 57500 Knapp Thomas Rd., Bogalusa, LA 70427, on Saturday, September 27, 2025. Visitation is from 10am until the funeral service at 12pm.
Brown-McGehee Funeral Home in Bogalusa is in charge of arrangements.
