Body Found in Lake Ponchartrain

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office reported Wednesday (September 3, 2025) afternoon, that a boater located a body in Lake Pontchartrain. The body has been recovered but a positive identification has not been made. Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is the lead on the case and any additional information will come from them and this story will be updated

At the time of this report, it has not been determined that the body is that of the boater who went overboard into the lake on August 31, 2025. A sailboat struck the Causeway near mile marker 14. A male and a female were onboard when the incident occurred. The male went overboard and the female was rescued from the vessel by the U.S. Coast Guard. Rescue and recovery efforts began to find the male and the efforts have been ongoing by STPSO Marine Division, Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Coast Guard.
