George William Starnes
February 22, 1951 - June 28, 2025
George William Starnes, age 74 and a resident of the Pine Community, passed away Saturday night June 28, 2025 at his home. He was born on February 22, 1951 at the Charity Hospital in Bogalusa and was always proud of the fact he was the very first “baby boy” born in the new hospital. William worked on tugboats for many years and later did carpentry work around the area. He attended Bible Baptist Church in Thomas and truly loved his church family. William enjoyed hunting, fishing and being in the outdoors. He was the kind of man that would help other people with anything they needed. William adored his family and loved spending time with his many loved ones.
Survived by: Wife of 48 years: Barbara Warren Starnes; Son and Daughter in law: Ellis and Jennifer Starnes; Daughter: Hollie Starnes; Step-Children and Spouses: Lynn Hartzog, Greg and Carrie Hartzog, Arlene Magee, Ledurle and Leon Chapman, Lisa and Curly Gardner; Grandchildren and a Spouse: Mya’ and Mason Little, Clayden Smith, Kadie Starnes, Dolores Starnes, Patlin Starnes, Mia’ Watson; Great-grandchildren: Bowen Little and Peanut; Sister and Brother in law: Mable and Stanley Chaney; Also numerous nieces, nephews and other family members
He was preceded in death by his daughter Tessie Lizette Starnes, parents George Starnes and Essie Hartzog Starnes, sisters Mevelee Taylor, Mary Luper, Joan Williams, Jean Fairburn, Deanie Stockstill, Nell Bates, brothers Lark Starnes, James Starnes, father in law and mother in law Jay Warren and Elvie Barber Warren and other family members.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Thursday July 3rd from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Thursday with Rev. Harold Gaddy officiating. Burial will follow in the Warren Family Cemetery.
