Edward "Ray" Penton
May 15, 1951 - June 27, 2025
Edward “Ray” Penton, a native and lifelong resident of Bogalusa, LA, passed away at age 74 surrounded by his loving family. He was a member of Terrace Missionary Baptist Church. He was also an Operator for the Chemical Plant that was once here in Bogalusa, LA. He loved being on the water, fishing and enjoying the outdoors.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia Welch Penton of Bogalusa, LA; son, Christopher “Chris” Edward Penton of Bogalusa, LA; grandsons, Zander “Bean” Penton and Tucker Lee; granddaughter, Brittany Lee; bonus daughters, Vanessa (Lalo) Vega, and Kelly Miller; stepdaughter, Julie (Cliff Ritchie) Miller; sister, Nita (Billy) Roberts; special friend and caregiver, Sharon Varnado. He was also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janie E. Watts; mother, Hazel C. Penton; father, John W. Penton; brother, John Allen Penton; stepdaughter, Edna Ann Steele.
Funeral Services will be held in the Chapel of Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Jerry Duncan officiating. Burial will be private.
A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 10 A.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M.
