Olevia Speights Mondy

January 23, 1937 - June 8, 2025

With heartfelt love and deep sorrow, the family of Mrs. Olevia Speights Mondy, announces her passing on June 8, 2025, at the age of 88. She was born on January 23, 1937 to the late Connie Speights and the late Geneva Wilson Speights.  

Olevia lived a life full of grace, kindness, and dedicated service to other.  She was a longtime and faithful member of Wesley Ray United Methodist Church, where she served diligently as the President of the Usher Board until her health no longer permitted.  Her warm smile and steady presence were a comfort to all who entered the church doors.

Professionally, Olevia gave many years of compassionate care as a nursing assistant at Bogalusa Medical Center Hospital, where she later retired.  Her work touched the lives of countless patients and colleagues, and she was known for her tireless dedication and nurturing spirit.

Olevia was the beloved wife of the late Virgil Mondy, and a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend.  She leaves behind her loving children: Cassandra (Curtis) Morgan, Sylvia (Mike) Garrett, and Victor Peters.

Her Legacy continues through her cherish grandchildren: Joe (Jeanneth) Lewis Jr., Ernest Quenzell (Amy) Spikes, Aaron (Tracy) Lewis, Erica (Willis) Yarbrough, Victoria Peters, and Victor Jerod Peters.

She held a special place in her heart for Catha Peters, Rendoris Smith, Denise Smith, Nazea (Sammy) Rogers, Shirley Craft, Betty Jones Mickens, and Bianca Roberson whose love and faithfulness brought her great joy.  She also shared a close bond with her special niece, Tina Speights Mansfield, who presence was a source was a source of strength and comfort.

She was a devoted sister to Louise (Ellis) Burrell and was loved deeply by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss her dearly.

Olevia's life was a testament to faith, love, and resilience.  Her memory will live on in the in the hearts of those she touched, and her legacy of kindness and service will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Visitation will be at Cook-Richmond Funeral Home in Bogalusa, Louisiana on June 13, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM followed by a Family Gathering from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A Service will be at Wesley Ray United Methodist Church in Angie, Louisiana on June 14, 2025 at 11:00 AM.
