𝐇𝐢𝐬 𝐁𝐚𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐭...𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐇𝐢𝐬 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐎𝐧💙🖤.

From the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office

This week, Sheriff Randy Smith had the honor of presenting a Life Saving Award to Christina Stipe and her daughter Fallon...on behalf of someone we will never forget: 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐁𝐮𝐛𝐛𝐚 𝐒𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐞.

Shortly after arriving home on April 5, 2024, Sergeant Bubba Stipe of the 2nd District received a loud and frantic knock at his front door. When he opened the door, he was met by a desperate mother holding her 10-month-old child who was non-responsive and barely breathing.

Without hesitation, Sergeant Stipe quickly assessed the child and observed that not only was the child lethargic, having difficulty breathing, but was also covered in hives.

As his wife called 911, Sergeant Stipe began providing life saving rescue breaths to the infant while the child’s parents looked on, watching as a complete stranger attempted to save their precious child’s life. What Sergeant Stipe did not know at the time was this family had recently moved across the street and were his new neighbors. When their child began to suffer the medical emergency, they recalled seeing Sergeant Stipe’s patrol vehicle in his driveway and instantly ran to him for help.

Upon arrival of EMS, Sergeant Stipe turned the child over to them. He later learned the child had eaten fish for the first time which caused an allergic reaction. After receiving the proper treatment, the child made a full recovery.

Despite being off duty and at his own residence, Sergeant Stipe acted without hesitation for a complete stranger. Sergeant Stipe’s swift actions directly resulted in this child being alive today. His actions have brought great credit to him, and to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Bubba passed away in the fall of 2024 after a long battle with cancer, but his legacy of service, compassion, and courage lives on through the lives he touched. His wife Christina and daughter Fallon stood strong and proud as they accepted this award in his memory…and we stood proud with them.
