Obituary

Robert Stephen Bateman

May 2, 1955 - April 20, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Robert Stephen Bateman, who left us on April 20, 2025 at the age of 69. Born on May 2, 1955, in New Orleans, LA , Robert was the cherished son of William Edmund and Peggy Jean Bateman. He grew up in River Ridge, LA, later attending St. Paul’s High School. After graduating, he took over the family business, W.E. Bateman & Sons Company (Bateman Stress).

Dad is survived by his wife of 49 years, AnneMarie Fennell Bateman; his children Anna Saxon (Peter), Stephanie Fortenberry (Dustin), Victoria Yniguez (Stephen), Robert Bateman (fiancé Lindsey Heffker), Jacob and Caleb Bateman along with his grandchildren Benjamin and Brayden Saxon, Max and Luke Fortenberry, Alex, Noah, and Sadie Yniguez; siblings Tina Creel, Martha Bateman, Horton Bateman and Bill Bateman (deceased).

Dad loved his family fiercely. Known by everyone for his contagious laugh and smile, he never met a stranger. He made it a point to turn every opportunity into a teaching moment. He was selfless, devoting his time not only to his family but also as a soccer coach for other kids throughout the Northshore and the Southshore.

Besides his passion for his family, dad had a passion for the outdoors. Some activities he loved most included hunting, fishing, boating and traveling. He was a licensed pilot who loved working with his hands. He was a tried and true fan of Liverpool Football.

Dad will be forever loved, forever missed, and forever remembered. His passing has left a hole that will never be filled.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 am followed by funeral mass at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Franklinton, LA. The family requests a private burial but invite everyone to attend a celebration of life that afternoon at the Bateman Home. Details to follow.
