Deacon Melvin Baggett
March 22, 1944 - May 5, 2025
On Monday, May 5, 2025 at the age of 81, Melvin Baggett answered the ultimate call, leaving his earthly home for his heavenly home.
Melvin Baggett was born on March 22, 1944 to the late Mellie and Willie Mae Baggett in Bogalusa, LA.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted and caring wife of 60 years, Regina P. Baggett of Bogalusa, LA, a son; Melvin Todd (Duana) Baggett of Covington, LA, two daughter; Sonya Abram of Bogalusa, LA and Deidra Baggett of Fayetteville, NC, five bonus kids; Fredricka “Nikki” Pittman, Tabatha (Delester) Smith, Denson (Leslie) Pittman, Sr., Yevone (Steve) Pigott and Ivy Lewis all of Bogalusa, two sisters; Rita Mae Baggett and Jonelle Baggett of Oklahoma City, OK, a brother; Willie Baggett, Sr. of Bogalusa, LA, his grandchildren; Aquenteya, Portia, Ira, Kelsea, Laken, and Alex, a special great-grandson; Desean Rogers, who was his right hand man, along with 12 other great-grandchildren, a God-Son; Kevin (Jennifer) Griffin of Gulfport, MS, an; honorary son, Riccardo Buckhanan of Bogalusa, La, an abundance of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Mellie and Wille Mae Baggett, a sister; Pauline Lewis, a brother; Jessie Baggett, four sisters-in-law; Francine Roby, Willie R. Lewis, Irene Baggett and June Baggett, a brother-in-law; James Pittman, a niece; Brandy Pittman and three nephews; Paul Lewis, Jerry Middleton and Gregory Middleton.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025 from 9:00AM – 11:00AM followed by the funeral service at 11:00AM at Brown Temple AOH Church of God 1101 South Royal Street Bogalusa, LA 70427 with Overseer Bennie Middleton – Pastor Officiating. Interment will be held at the Ponemah Cemetery.
Crain and Sons Funeral Home – Bogalusa are in charge of arrangements.
