Franklinton Police Investigating but Reports of Suspicious Person Remains Unsubstantiated

Late Sunday (May 11, 2025) night, the Franklinton Police Department reported that FPD had received reports of a "white van" driven by a "white male" driving around town and attempting to make contact with juveniles. "The reports are vague in nature and FPD has not received a complaint from any juvenile or parent." FPD Chief Brown advised that they were taking the reports seriously and  officers were actively patrolling areas where the sightings have alleged to have occurred.

In an update this morning (May 12, 2025), FPD reports that Officers have continued to investigate the reported person of interest driving the white van. However, after re-interviewing the original complainant and extracting video from a nearby business, the reported incident did not take place as described. Further, video evidence clearly shows the complainant in the area and specific location at the time they claimed the incident occurred. What was never seen on video in the hours before or after the incident was a white van or a young female on a bicycle. The Franklinton Police Department has not received a complaint from any victim or parent alleging an attempted abduction took place.
