15 Year-Old Leads Slidell Police on 30-Mile Chase in Stolen Vehicle

Shortly before 10:00 p.m. on Friday (May 9, 2025), officers with the Slidell Police Department responded to the Magnolia Heights neighborhood following a report of a vehicle burglary in progress. A witness monitoring home surveillance cameras observed a suspect breaking into a Hyundai Tucson parked in a driveway. Moments later, the suspect was seen tampering with the ignition and driving away in the now-stolen vehicle.

Responding officers spotted the stolen vehicle driving and attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the driver fled, prompting a pursuit that spanned approximately 30 miles into New Orleans.

The pursuit came to an end when a Slidell Police Sergeant successfully executed a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI) maneuver, bringing the stolen vehicle to a stop. The driver, a 15-year-old juvenile from Slidell, was taken into custody without further incident.

Inside the vehicle, officers recovered a replica Glock-style BB gun, along with burglary tools including pliers, screwdrivers, and a face mask.

The juvenile was charged with Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Aggravated Obstruction of a Highway of Commerce, Aggravated Flight from an Officer, Possession of Burglary Tools, and No Driver’s License.
