Donald Edward Breland

April 16, 1936 - March 10, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our cherished soul, Donald Edward Breland. On the morning of March 10, 2025, at the age of 88, the Lord called him home. 

He was born to the late John Edward and Madie Cruthirds Breland on April 16th, 1936 in Bogalusa. He graduated from Bogalusa High School and attended Louisiana State University. He then served in the United States Navy from June 1954 - June 1956. He built his career at Gaylord Container Corporation where he worked for 36 years as a salesman and accounts receivable representative. He was a member of Superior Avenue Baptist Church where he proudly served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and member of various church committees. He was a devout Christian and expressed his faith and knowledge of God’s word to many. He was a loving father and grandfather who rose to the occasion throughout the years. He also had a passion for traveling the country with his dear wife, Dollie. 

He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 30 years, Dollie Ann Breland, his children, Phyllis (Ray) Campo and Robert Breland, his beloved grandchildren, Jason (Rachel) Cucchiara, Marci (Aaron) Seals, Michaela (Joee) Davis, Grant (Stephanie) George, great grandchildren, Maydee Seals, Hank Seals, Beau Davis, and Micah Davis. He was also survived by many nieces, nephews, and special friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents John Edward and Madie Grant Cruthirds Breland, his brother Ronald Breland, his half-sisters, Colleen Hemphill and Emelda Black, and his late wife Marcia Leigh Mizell Breland. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the services which will be held on Sunday, March 16, 2025, with the visitation starting at 10:00 am and remaining open until the funeral service at 2:00 pm at Poole Ritchie Funeral Home, in Bogalusa, LA.  Rev. Clay Norwood will officiate the service and interment will follow at Ponemah Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites performed by the American Legion Post #24.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Superior Avenue Baptist Church.
