David Allen Bezar, age 45 and of Springfield, has been arrested in connection with the theft of communication system wiring in the Ponchatoula area that left hundreds of customers without service and created a costly disruption for the service provider. Bezar was taken into custody Wednesday (March 5, 2025) by the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office (LPSO).
Last week, TPSO responded to a report of a theft of AT&T wire at the Natalbany River Bridge on Highway 22 in Ponchatoula. The investigation revealed that the suspect, later identified as Bezar, would burn the stolen wire to convert the copper inside into bricks that he would sell.
With the help of LPSO, Bezar was located and taken into custody. He was found with scraps of AT&T wire, copper bricks and handwritten notes outlining his entire operation, step by step.
LPSO booked Bezar on several counts including Illegal Possession of Stolen Property (Felony) and Possession of Schedule II Drugs (Methamphetamine). Once Bezar is transferred to Tangipahoa Parish, he will be booked on one count each of Felony Theft, Criminal Conspiracy to Commit Theft and Offenses Against Electronic Mail Providers.
Sheriff Gerald Sticker and the TPSO Criminal Investigations Division thank Sheriff Jason Ard and his team for their partnership in solving this case quickly.
