The Slidell Police Department has completed an investigation into allegations of inappropriate conversations between a Salmen High School teacher and a juvenile student, which has resulted in the teacher's arrest.
The investigation began after the Slidell Police Department received a complaint regarding 56-year-old John Bowie, a now-former teacher at Salmen High School, who was accused of engaging in inappropriate conversations with a juvenile female student during classroom hours.
Following a thorough investigation by the Slidell Police Department, sufficient evidence was gathered to support the allegations. As a result, John Bowie, a resident of Slidell, was arrested and charged with violating Louisiana Revised Statute 14:81 (Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile).
The Slidell Police Department and the St. Tammany Parish Public School System take these matters seriously and remain committed to protecting the safety and well-being of all students.
