Karen Ann Bender Burge

August 31, 1951 - February 3, 2025

Karen Ann Bender Burge, age 73, passed away on February 3, 2025, in Carriere, Mississippi. She was born on August 31, 1951, in Bogalusa, Louisiana.

Karen embodied dedication, independence, selflessness and compassion. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life - planting a garden, spending time with her beloved horses, and cooking meals to share with those around her. Her kitchen was always a place of warmth and nourishment, where friends and family gathered to enjoy her generous hospitality.

She is survived by her loving husband, Daniel Burge; her daughter, Tracy Arnold (Scott Arnold); her son, Travis Stuart; her cherished grandchildren, Kramer Stuart and Isabella Arnold; and her sister, Frankie Kay Bender McElveen (Richard McElveen). She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts. 

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Clayton Bender and Nylen Fornea Bender, as well as her sister, Kathy Dianne Bender Holloway.

A memorial gathering will be held on February 15, 2025, at The Farm in Carriere, Mississippi (5647 Hwy 43 N) from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Following a short memorial service, attendees are invited to join in an old-fashioned potluck luncheon in Karen's honor. In lieu of flowers, guests are encouraged to bring a dish to share as a tribute to Karen's love for cooking and community.

Karen's legacy of hard work and kindness will live on through the many lives she touched. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
