Jackson "Jackie" Carter Bennett

January 15, 1938 - February 1, 2025

Jackson "Jackie" Carter Bennett, age 87 and of Bogalusa, LA, went to be with his Lord and Savior early Saturday morning, February 1, 2025, in the home of his daughter, Regina Hunt.

Jackie worked for Red Bird Ice Cream for 18 years and then went on to retire from the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries. He was married to his loving wife, Verena Mae Mizell Bennett for 68 and a half years. They shared a lifetime of memories traveling, riding horses, riding motorcycles, and raising their children. Jackie was well known for never meeting a stranger and always having a ready smile on his face. Jackie Bennett will be missed by many people.

Jackie is survived by his loving wife, Verena Mae Mizell Bennett of Bogalusa. LA, his two devoted children, Mark W. Bennett and wife, Tracy Bennett of Poplarville, MS, and Regina Hunt and husband, Steve Hunt of Sun, LA. He had 4 grandchildren, Duke Bennett, Dusty Bennett, Molly Reid, Mikata Reid, and two step-grandsons. Jackie also leaves eight great-granddaughters, 3 great-grandsons, one great-great-granddaughter, many cousins, nephews, nieces, and a host of dear friends.

Pallbearers will include: Paul Koenig, Bobby Breland, Chris Wood, Gary Taylor, Robert "Bud" Mizell Jr., Toby Cooper, Chris Jones, and Robert Wood. Serving as honorary pallbearers: Duke Bennett and Reed Kennedy.

Visitation and services will be held at First Baptist Church in Sun, Louisiana on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. Family Visitation at 10:30. Public visitation 11:00. Services at 2:00 pm with graveside services to follow at Mizell Family Cemetery.

Brown-McGehee Funeral Home in Bogalusa, Louisiana is in charge of arrangements.
