Randall Dale "Randy" Bateman

Randall Dale "Randy" Bateman, aged 65 and of the Enon Community, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2025, surrounded by family and friends. A devoted husband, a loving father, and a cherished friend, Randy will be remembered for his kind heart, wonderful sense of humor, and deep connection to his family and friends.
Born on February 19, 1959 to Earlane and Hugh V. Bateman, Randy lived his entire life near the Bogue Chitto River, a place that inspired his love for nature and the close-knit community of Enon. As a young child, Randy survived Tetralogy of Fallot, a rare congenital condition caused by the combination of four heart defects present at birth. At the early age of eight, he was the recipient of open-heart surgery performed by the renowned Dr. John Ochsner of New Orleans, an experience that not only saved his life but also helped pioneer advancements in the treatment of this disease.
Randy retired in 2012 from the Southeastern Louisiana Hospital system, where he worked as a Laborer and Mobile Equipment Operator. His role reflected his strong work ethic and dedication to providing essential services that benefited countless patients and staff across the region.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jill; his beloved daughter, Amanda; his adoring pet, Sandy; and numerous loving cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earlane and Hugh V. Bateman.
Funeral services will be handled by Crain Funeral Home in Franklinton, Louisiana, with Pastor Chris Wheeler officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday evening, January 10, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., and on Saturday, January 11, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., with interment at the Enon Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family extends a special thank you to Glenn Davis for his unwavering support and care for Amanda and Jill during this difficult time.
Randy’s kind heart, wonderful sense of humor, and enduring love for his family, friends, and the natural beauty of the Bogue Chitto River will remain a lasting legacy in the hearts of all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that donations can be made to the Enon Baptist Church in the name of Randy Bateman.
