Walter Louis Smith
December 19, 1933 - January 2, 2025
Walter Louis Smith, age 91 and a resident of Franklinton, passed away Thursday evening January 2, 2025 at Riverside Medical Center. He was born on December 19, 1933 in Williamson County, TX and had a long career as a truck driver, working for different companies through the years hauling all types of freight. Walter has been a resident of Washington Parish for well over 30 years. He and his wife loved traveling across the country in their RV visiting numerous parks and historical sites, even working several summers as tour guides in Yellowstone National Park.
Survived by: Wife of 30 years: Margaret Knight Smith of Franklinton; Son: Walter “Bubba” Smith, Jr.; Daughter: Arjaree; 12 Grandchildren and 2 Great-grandchildren; Also numerous nieces, nephews and their families
He was preceded in death by his parents Hubert Smith and Alice Etheridge Smith and other family members.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Monday January 6th from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 am Monday with Rev. Dale Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Ellis Cemetery.
