Obituary

Rodney Wayne Phillips

March 26, 1972 - January 19, 2025

Rodney Phillips, age 52 and of Angie, departed this old life, for a better one, in the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 19, 2025. Rodney was a longtime resident of Angie La. and attended both Varnado High School and Dexter High School, and earned his GED in 1991. He went on to work at various jobs, including being on the TACT team at the prison. He worked with construction/building and on tug boats before becoming disabled. Rodney was an outdoor type person who loved hunting and fishing, especially down at the Pearl River Swamp. He was also artistic and loved to draw, paint, or color-pencil various creations. He always had some type of project going on. He is described by his friends and family as someone with a tender heart and a gentle soul, who would do anything to help anyone, if he could. Every time you saw Rodney, you usually saw his best friend Cujo, who will miss the daily back scratches and car rides.

Rodney is survived in life by his companion of 17 years Garnet Fornea, and their fur babies Gia and Cujo; his son Logan Phillips (Alexis) and granddaughter Wrenley; mother Beverly Williams (Garry Cooper), sister Melissa Peters (Greg) and children Bailey, Reagan, Dilan, Addie, Paisley; sister Rachel Boone; and grandmother Helen Freeman. He is also survived by his daughter-n-law Cheyenne Fornea Wilson (Reggie) and grandson Ayce who affectionately called Rodney “GG’s daddy”, mother-in-law Reta Fornea, sister-n-law Brandy Sikes, nieces and nephews Brandyn Kenner Spikes (Victoria), Shawn Micheal Williams (Madison), Krisanne Williams (Kenderick), Shunti Williams, and their children; and also his half-brother Everret. Rodney was preceded in death by his grandfather Myron Freeman, and sister-n-law Kayla Fornea Williams.

The funeral will be held at Brown McGehee Funeral home in Bogalusa on Wednesday, January 29, 2025. Visitation will be from 11am-2pm, with family time starting at 10:30am. The service will start at 2pm and burial will be immediately after at the Bonnie Cemetery in Angie.
