Luther "Red" Watson, Jr.

March 6, 1981 - December 26, 2024

Luther "Red" Watson, Jr., age 43 and a resident of Mount Hermon, passed away Thursday night December 26, 2024 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. He was born on March 6, 1981 and went by the nickname “Red” to his family and friends. Red worked in construction and landscaping for many years and enjoyed working with plants and gardening. He was an excellent fisherman and also liked to hunt and spend time in the outdoors. Red raised a large number of chickens and other barnyard animals at his home. He was a great jokester and clown, always trying to make people laugh. Red loved spending time with his children and family.

Survived by: Son and Daughter in law: Daniel and Dakota Watson and their son Daniel “D.J.”, Jr. and another expected grandchild; 2 Daughters: Kasie Watson, Brittney Watson; Mother: Sharon Ann Duncan Watson of Mt. Hermon; Father: Luther “Rusty” Watson, Sr. of Mt. Hermon; Sisters and Brothers in law: Crystal and James O’Bryant of Tylertown, Stephanie and Jeremy McKenzie of Mt. Hermon; Nieces and Nephews: David, Destiny, Dakota, Dalton, Daelyn, Raven, Logan; Great-nephews and Great-nieces: Zayden, Zowen, Raylin, Jamie, Payslee; Mother of his children: Ruthie Welch; Also numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Doyle and Cricket Watson, Cleavie and Vernie Duncan, nephew Payen O’Bryant and numerous other family members.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday December 31st in the Maples Cemetery near Mt. Hermon.

Crain Funeral Home in Franklinton, Louisiana is in charge of arrangements.
