Homer Edward Sheridan
August 7, 1939 - December 11, 2024
Homer Edward Sheridan, a resident of the Crossroads Community, passed away on December 11, 2024, at the age of 85. He was born on August 7, 1939, to Howard and Minnie Sheridan in the Oak Grove Community, where he spent his childhood until the family moved to Bogalusa. Homer graduated from Bogalusa High School and then joined the Louisiana National Guard. For a brief period of time, Homer worked with Esco Knight and the Dodge dealership before joining the 205th Engineer Brigade full time and retired after thirty-two years of service.
An avid LSU fan, Homer enjoyed reading Danny Don daily and could always give you the up-to-date information on recruitment. He and his wife Dean enjoyed going to LSU women’s basketball and softball games for many years and were Diamondback members and Fast Break Club.
Homer was a faithful member of Mitchell’s Chapel Church of God and served the church in many capacities but enjoyed most teaching Sunday school.
He is survived by a grandson, Branden (Ashley) Sheridan, two granddaughters, Mandy (Trent) Newman and Niki (John) Gaulden; great-grandchildren, Nickolas Sheridan, Zoey Sheridan, Presley Stafford, Briggs Newman, and Braxton Hillman; one sister, Dollie Sheridan Hobgood; nieces, Janene (James) Dunaway, Elisa (JT) Thomas, Belinda (Glen) Blackwelder, Pam (Kenny) LeBouef, Sherry (Shane) Richardson, Lynn (Toby) McBeth; nephews, Terry Stewart, Densil (Joy) Stewart, Steve (Caroline) Stewart, Donavan (Donna) Hall, Michael (Betty) Sheridan, Van Buren (Charlotte) Sheridan, Tinker Goings and Jodie Goings; sister-in-law and brother-in law, Richard and Fay Harrell; brother-in-law Grady Jack (Melanie Berry) White; daughters-in-law, Penny Moore and Cindy Taylor; his caregiver, who became his best friend, Terrie Riley.
Homer was preceded in death by his wife Addean White Sheridan, two sons, Todd Allen and Ted Edward Sheridan; his parents, Howard Charles Sheridan, Sr. and Minnie Mae McNeese Sheridan; one brother and sister-in-law, Howard Charles Sheridan, Jr and Margie Nell Thomas Sheridan; sisters and brothers-in-law, LaVerygne and Robert W. (Bill) Stewart; Elaine and Kenneth Schilling; Virginia and Wilbert Earl Broussard: sister-in-law, Pauline Goings and brother-in-law, Woodrow Hobgood.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 15, 2024, from 6-9 PM at Mitchell’s Chapel Church of God and will resume on Monday, December 16 at 11 AM until time for services at 2 PM by Reverend Terry Bradley. Interment will be in the church cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post 24.
