Bertha Duncan Curry
March 27, 1934 - December 18, 2024
Bertha Duncan Curry, age 90 and a resident of Franklinton, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning December 18, 2024 at her daughter’s home. She was retired after a long career as a nurse at East Jefferson General Hospital. Bertha enjoyed gardening for vegetables and her beautiful flowers. She loved doing crossword puzzles and needle-point, often while watching her favorite cooking shows and daytime court TV shows, especially Judge Judy. Bertha loved visiting with her family and friends on the phone every day. However, taking care of the needs of her large family and spending time with her beloved grandchildren was always her most favorite pastime.
Survived by: 4 Daughters and Sons in law: Donna Tanner, Elizabeth Chain, Susan and Bruce Reid, Tracy Oncale-Thomas and Sean Thomas; 2 Sons and Daughters in law: Mark and Rowena Rupe, Michael and Kim Letsinger; 17 Grandchildren: Brandy, Jennifer, Luke, Laura, Jason, Rebecca, Melissa, Christopher, Kelly, Matt, Jake, Jenny, Kayla, Bridget, Josh, Zach, Britton; 29 Great-grandchildren; 4 Great-great-grandchildren; Sister and Brother in law: Sally and Dale Akins; Brother: Bud Duncan; Also numerous nieces, nephews and other family members
She was preceded in death by her sons Richard Rupe, John Rupe, recently by her husband of 51 years Leon Edward Curry, Jr., parents Jake Duncan and Marie Pointer Duncan, a sister Helen Wells and other family members.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Saturday December 21st from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Saturday with Bro. Gary King officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Hermon Cemetery.
