Nora Elaine Branham Raby

January 13, 1957 - November 11, 2024

On November 11, 2024, at the age of 67, Nora Elaine Branham Raby went to rest in the arms of Jesus. She was the loving wife of the late Steven Michael Raby and loving mother to Jessica Raby Busby and her husband Michael, and Carlton Burton Branham and his wife Samantha.

Elaine was born in Duluth, Georgia on January 13, 1957 but settled down and spent most of her life in Covington, LA. She found happiness in sharing time with family, friends and making memories with her grandchildren. Elaine and her husband were Thoroughbred racehorse owners, trainers, and breeders. She was always surrounded by either horses or children, even if they weren’t her own. She spent many hours at the pig barn, horse barn or ballgames for her children. Elaine was devoted to those she loved, but was also outspoken when need be. She enjoyed helping others and would selflessly give to anyone in need.

Including her children, she leaves behind to cherish her memory, eight beloved grandchildren Loxleigh, Lorelei, Layna and Truitt Busby, Nora, Gideon, Dominic and Alexis, a loving mother in law Sylvia Martin Raby, sister in law Shelley Raby Lusco (Charles), brother in law Shawn Patrick Raby and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents Burton Branham and Mildred Pittman Branham and father in law Alton Gustave Raby, Jr.

Family and friends are invited to attend services on Saturday November 16, 2024 at New Zion Baptist Church (17387 New Zion Church Road, Covington, LA 70435). Visitation will begin at 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 pm with Rev. Clark Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the New Zion Baptist Church Lunch Ministry at the address above.
