Maxine Warner Johnson
December 28, 1941 - November 16, 2024
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid
up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all of them also that love his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7-8
Sister Maxine Warner Johnson, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and foremost a true servant of God departed her earthly home to be with the Lord on November 16, 2024.
Sister Maxine was born December 28,1941 to the late Tommie and Aretha Warner. She was the youngest of six children and known to many as, “her daddy’s baby.” She took pleasure in tending her flowerbed and afterwards sitting on the porch to view the beautiful scenery. She will forever be remembered for her humble, caring, selfless demeanor, for being fully committed to God and loving her family with all her heart.
Sister Maxine was a faithful and devoted member of the Water Valley Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop Howard E. Quillen Jr. She served as the Bible Band President, Sunshine Band President, Sunday School Secretary, and on the Usher Board until her health began to decline.
Sister Maxine leaves to cherish her memories her loving husband of 63 years, Vernell Johnson; two sons, Perry (Cassandra) Johnson of Fayetteville, NC and Richard (Denise) Johnson of Franklinton, LA; four daughters, Cheryl (Albert) Wilson of Pearland TX, LaKeitha (Eld. Sterling) Halley, Deniqua (Keltron) Hewitt, and LaTonyette (Andra) Wilson all of Franklinton, LA; sister and best friend, Mary Robinson; 16 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and host of nephews, nieces, in-laws, cousins, and friends.
Sister Maxine was preceded in death by daughters; Sheila Sims and Phyllis Johnson; granddaughter, Angel Hewitt; great-grandson, Blaze Stewart; parents, Tommie and Aretha Warner; sister, Pauline Dillon; brothers, Albert, Tommie, and Wilton Warner; son -in- law, David Sims; father and mother-in-law, Silas and Hollis Johnson.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024 from 10:00AM – 12:00PM followed by the funeral service at 12:00PM at Water Valley Church of God in Christ with Bishop Howard Quillen, Jr. – Pastor Officiating. Interment – Hayes United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Crain and Sons Funeral Home – Franklinton are in charge of arrangements.
