David Davidson
January 19, 1947 - November 26, 2024
David Davidson, age 77 and a resident of Franklinton passed away early Tuesday morning November 26, 2024 at Heritage Manor of Mandeville. He was born on January 19, 1947 in Bogalusa and was a graduate of Bogalusa High School. David was a standout member of the Lumberjack Football Team and earned a scholarship to Florida State University before finishing his football playing career at Southeastern Louisiana University. He was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War. David was stationed in Germany and served his fellow soldiers as a medic. He would later serve a 37 year career with the Temple-Inland Paper Mill as a control room operator before retiring. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Franklinton, active in his Sunday School Class and the Thursday morning men’s breakfast and bible study at Sugar Shack, which began with Rev. Paul Watts and himself before expanding to a large group that still meets weekly. David also worked with the First Baptist Construction Crew that built ramps and needed repairs at the homes of countless people around the area. He always enjoyed playing golf, fishing and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Survived by: Son and Daughter in law: Brian and Valerie Davidson of Franklinton; Daughter: Tracy Davidson Galloway of Franklinton; Grandchildren: Dylan, Bailey, Bradlee, Braeden, Alli, Cash, Hannah, Aubrie; Brother and Sister in law: Bill and Sharon Davidson of Poplarville, MS; Nephews: Bill, Jr., Chris and their families; Niece: Toni and her family; Also numerous extended family members
He was preceded in death by his parents James Davidson and Louella Thomas Davidson.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Sunday December 1st from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Sunday. Burial will follow in the veteran’s section of Ponemah Cemetery with military honors provided by the American Legion Post 24 Honor Guard.
