Ernest Loyd "Cete" Dillon
March 21, 1926 - October 21, 2024
Ernest Loyd "Cete" Dillon was born in Kentwood, LA on March 21, 1926. After high school he entered LSU in Pre-vet studies. After one semester he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in the South Pacific during WWII. Upon his discharge, he returned to Kentwood and married the love of his life Ruby Hodges and they were married for 76 years prior to her death in October 2023. Ernest operated a dairy for 30 years and was a wildlife agent for 28 years, being awarded wildlife agent of the year during his service.
He is survived by daughter, Jana K. Dillon; son, Iley F. Dillon, M.D. (Cheryl); granddaughter, Lauren Peacock Tackett (Brad); grandsons, Eric J. Dillon (Natalie), Jason Dillon, and C. Scott Dillon (Ginny); great-granddaughters, Anna Gail Dillon and Elizabeth Grace "Gracie" Dillon; great-grandsons, Christopher Troy Dillon, John Eric Dillon and Garrett Scott Dillon.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Hodges Dillon; mother and father, Maggie and Iley Dillon; sister, Edna Allen and brother, I.B. Dillon.
Visitation at First Baptist Church of Kentwood from 9:00AM until religious services at 11:00AM on Wednesday, October 23, 2024. Services conducted by Rev. Darryl Miller. Interment Woodland Cemetery, Kentwood, LA. Pallbearers will be Eric Dillon, Brad Tackett, Toby Miller, Chris Holland, Troy Dillon, Mike Moise, and John Eric Dillon.
