Arrest Made Following Mandeville-area Home Invasion

This morning (October 1, 2024), 31 year-old Jaques Dutel was arrested for Home Invasion after he broke into a Mandeville-area residence. 

At approximately 4:30 a.m., a homeowner in the 2000 block of Labarre Street near Mandeville was awakened by the sound of his glass front door shattering. The homeowner located an unknown man inside this residence holding what appeared to be a knife. Upon being confronted by the homeowner, the man fled the residence on foot. He was located a short time later by St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's deputies at a residence where he was staying in the 2000 block of Destin Street.

“This could have ended very badly, I want to applaud and thank the patrol deputies involved and the detectives with our Major Crimes Division for identifying and arresting this perpetrator so quickly,” Sheriff Randy Smith said. “They are truly the best of the best and St. Tammany is lucky to have such trained and dedicated investigators serving the peoples of our great parish.”
