Beverly Gayle Blackwell
October 31, 1955 - September 7, 2024
Beverly Gayle Blackwell, a resident of Bogalusa, was born in Bogalusa, LA. on October 31, 1955, passed away on September 7, 2024, at the Hospice House in Slidell, LA at the age of 68. She was a Bogalusa High School graduate and received a bachelor’s degree from Southeastern Louisiana University.
She was employed as a legal secretary her entire working career. She started with Don Fendlason, then moved to Farmer Cheatham and Tate, then worked with Sam Collett and moved with him to Jones and Fussell where she retired. For many years Beverly served the MCCA Board of Directors as their secretary as well as the captain’s assistant.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents Tillie Blackwell Jr. and Gayle Price Blackwell; and a great nephew Hunter Blackwell.
She is survived by her siblings Allison (Cliff) Wheat of Bogalusa, LA, Julie (Kenny) Kellis of Bogalusa, LA and Steve (Rhonda) Blackwell of Bush, LA; nieces Missy (Jody) Bacque’, Chris Blackwell, Corey (Cory) McGehee, and Karlie Wheat.
Bevs, as her great niece Quinn nicknamed her, loved to crochet and was always making blankets or covering coat hangers to give to family and friends as gifts. She also enjoyed spending time with her friend Ann watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home from 11:00 am until service time of 2:00p.m., with Rev. Field Thigpen will officiating.
