Michelle Crain Calahan
March 15, 1958 - September 9, 2024
On September 9, 2024, Michelle Crain Calahan, affectionately known as “Sput” transitioned peacefully from this life to be with her Heavenly Father and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Michelle was born on March 15, 1958, to the late Reginald and Shirley Crain in New Orleans, Louisiana. From a young age, she was a faithful member of Loving Forth Baptist Church, where she was baptized and actively served on various committees. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life.
A proud graduate of John McDonogh Senior High School, Michelle went on to attend Southeastern Louisiana University. It was there that she met the love of her life, Marvin Calahan. They were united in marriage in November 1978, and from their loving union came two beautiful daughters, April and Summer, who were the pride and joy of her life.
Michelle dedicated over 20 years of service to American General Insurance Company before retiring. She found immense joy in spending time with her beloved granddaughters, Alaila, Autumn, and Ari, especially during their after-school visits. Michelle also loved talking on the phone, eating sweets, and watching her game shows. Her generosity and love for her family were unmatched—if there was something you needed and she could help, she would.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory: her devoted husband of 46 years, Marvin Calahan; her daughters, April and Summer Calahan; granddaughters, Alaila, Autumn, and Ari McMillian; brothers, Douglas and Anthony Crain; and a host of cherished brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Gwendolyn Magee; her brother, Reginald Crain and beloved dogs, Polo and Ralphie.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, Saturday 21, 2024 from 8:00AM – 10:00AM followed by the funeral service at 10:00AM at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Bruce McClue – Officiating. Interment – Folsom Community Cemetery.
