This morning (August 14, 2024), shortly after 6:30 a.m., Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L began investigating a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 12 near the Interstate 59 interchange in St. Tammany Parish. The crash claimed the life of 52-year-old Nolan Gautier of Slidell.
The initial investigation revealed the crash occurred as a 2015 Chevrolet Camaro, driven by Gautier, was eastbound on Interstate 12. For reasons still under investigation, the Chevrolet traveled off the roadway and struck a concrete embankment.
Despite being properly restrained, Gautier was pronounced deceased on the scene. As part of the ongoing investigation, a routine toxicology sample was obtained from Gautier for analysis.
Troopers wish to remind motorists to always make safe and responsible decisions when driving. Never drive impaired, fatigued, or distracted. Always follow traffic laws and ensure that every occupant is properly restrained. While not all crashes are survivable, taking these simple precautions can often mean the difference between life and death.
