Patricia Green Jones

December 9, 1929 - August 15, 2024

Patricia Green Jones, age 94 and a resident of the Oak Grove Community, passed away early Thursday morning August 15, 2024 at her home following a lengthy illness. She was a longtime member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Patricia worked alongside her family on their dairy farm for many years and enjoyed planting a big garden each season. She loved fishing every chance she could and in her younger years swimming with her children in the Bogue Lusa Creek. Patricia liked to sew and she had a very special comforting friend in her pet cat “Pretty Girl”. She was forever a loving wife, mother and grandmother that, most importantly, always took care of the needs of her family.

Survived by: 3 Daughters and Sons in law: Pearl and Freddie Ballard, Janice Thigpen and John Thigpen, Jr., all of Oak Grove, Colleen Creel of Bogalusa; Son and Daughter in law: Pete and Pat Bennett of Carson, MS; Grandchildren and Spouses: Robert and Kelly Ballard, Rachael Ballard, Melissa and Scottie Simon, Steven and Amanda Mathews, Daniel and Gretchen Mathews, Michael and Samantha Mathews; 15 Great-grandchildren; 9 Great-great-grandchildren; Sisters in law and a Brother in law: Carolyn and Sal Scimemi, Marlene Tannehill, Charlotte “Sherry” Jones; Also numerous nieces, nephews and other family members

She was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years Steven Robert Jones, son in law J.T. Creel, parents Roscoe Green and Rachel Carol Green, sister Audrey Green Jones, brothers Bill Green, Samuel Green, William Green, Vernell Green, father in law Steve Jones, and mother in law Philonia Stogner Tandecke.

Visitation will be at Oak Grove Baptist Church (19840 Lee Road, Franklinton) on Saturday August 17th from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the church at 12:00 pm Saturday with Rev. Russell Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
