Slidell Police reported Thursday (August 15, 2024) the arrest on August 9, 2024 of 28-year-old Nicholas Vogel, a Slidell-area man following an investigation into a shooting of a 46-year-old male.
Responding officers located the victim with a gunshot wound to his left thigh. Officers applied a tourniquet and the victim was life-flighted to University Medical Center in New Orleans.
Slidell Police Investigators learned that the suspect had let himself into the victim’s residence through the front door. The victim did not know the suspect and attempted to get the suspect to leave his residence. A struggle ensued, the suspect was forced from the residence, and then the suspect returned with a 9mm firearm and shot at the victim. The suspect then left the area, leaving the victim to suffer from the gunshot wound.
Investigators located a cell phone belonging to the suspect that had been left behind at the scene. The evidence recovered led investigators to identify the suspect as Vogel. He was located and arrested and booked into the Slidell City Jail on one count of Aggravated Burglary and one count of Attempted Second Degree Murder.
The victim remains hospitalized but is currently in stable condition.
The investigation surrounding the incident remains ongoing.
