Tropical Disturbances Today

















1. Remnants Of Chris is dissipating over the rugged terrain of eastern Mexico. Chris is located about 60 miles south-southeast of Tuxpan, Mexico and moving west-northwest at 7 MPH with maximum sustained winds of 35 MPH. There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect.

2. Hurricane Beryl is an extremely dangerous Category 4 hurricane with life-threatening winds and dangerous storm surges. Beryl is located about 35 miles northeast of Grenada moving west-northwest at 20 MPH with maximum sustained winds of 140 MPH. Beryl is expected to move quickly westward to west-northwestward during the next few days. On the forecast track, the center of Beryl will move across the southeastern and central Caribbean Sea late today through Wednesday.

3. Central Tropical Atlantic (AL96): An area of low pressure is located over 1000 miles east-southeast of the Windward Islands.  Environmental conditions appear marginally conducive for additional development of this system, and a tropical depression could form by the middle part of this week while it moves generally westward at 15 to 20 mph across the central and western tropical Atlantic. Formation chance through 48 hours...low...30 percent and formation chance through 7 days...medium...60 percent.
