George R. Lowry
January 2, 1944 - June 18, 2024
George R. Lowry, age 80, also affectionately known as “Bob” by those who worked with him for many years, passed away on June 18, 2024 at Resthaven Living Center in Bogalusa, LA. He was born in Pascagoula, MS on January 2, 1944.
Bob was a Marine and spent over six years serving his country, including serving in Vietnam. After military service, he began work with Desoto Construction in our region, first with Darryl Desoto and later with Titus Desoto. He was a master carpenter with many skills and worked as long as he was physically able before retiring a few years ago.
While working with Desoto Construction, he moved to the Bogalusa area where he was a long-time member at First Baptist Church of Bogalusa and a member of the church choir. George was also a talented musician.
George outlived all of his immediate family; however, he will be greatly missed by his friends whom he worked with, the Desoto family as well as his church and choir family.
A memorial service to celebrate George will be held in the Fellowship Hall at First Baptist Church, 500 block Avenue G, Bogalusa, LA 70427, starting at 3:00 pm. Rev. Josh Powell will conduct the service and after the memorial, there will be a time of fellowship for those in attendance. A private burial will be held at a later date.
Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
