Myra Helen Graves Dawsey

Myra Helen Graves Dawsey, 88 years old, died peacefully on Monday, June 24, 2024, at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond, LA surrounded by family. She was born on Sunday, May 3, 1936, in Bogalusa, LA to Murry Marcus and Patty B. Wilks Graves.
Myra loved cooking, sewing, playing piano, poetry, classical music, history, traveling, visiting the sick, and staying in touch with her extended family and lifelong friends.
She was a 1954 graduate of Columbia High School in Columbia, MS. She also graduated from Draughon’s Business College in Jackson, MS and took piano classes at William Carey College in Hattiesburg, MS.
Myra worked as a sales representative, purchasing agent, bookkeeper, seamstress, driver and worked in management. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church in Ponchatoula, LA.
Myra is survived by her children, Laura Dawsey Bernos (Donald), Steven Douglas Dawsey, Michael Alan Dawsey (Leah), and Sharon Ilene Dawsey; grandchildren, David Bernos, Brian Bernos, Brandon Bernos, Michelle Sims, Rebekah Dawsey, Ileene Lanier, and Amy Dawsey; and great grandchildren, Brianna Bernos, Hope Bernos, Abbey Bernos, Henry Bernos, Thomas Bernos, Cecelia Bernos, Cassie Hayno, Adalin Populis, Bear Barbato, Audrey Sims, Daniel Lanier, Helen Lanier, and Samuel Lanier.
Myra will be remembered for her thoughtfulness, generosity, and fiery inner strength.
Graveside services will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia, MS on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at 11:00 am.
