Detectives with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Major Crime Unit are investigating after a juvenile was accidentally shot Tuesday (July 16, 2024) evening at a residence in the Goodbee area.
Shortly after 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, STPSO deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of Eagle Landing Drive in reference to a 15-year-old female who had been shot while sitting in the living room of the home. A male relative at the home told detectives he was handling a firearm in another room of the house, when the gun accidentally fired and the bullet travelled through a wall and struck the girl.
She was airlifted by emergency medical personnel to an area hospital.
The incident is still under investigation and no additional information is available at this time.
Editor's Note: We have received unofficial reports that the victim was a student at Mt. Hermon School but have been unable to verify this. More will be reported when the information is available.
