Daniel Callihan Formally Booked in Brunett Case

Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Gerald Sticker announced today (July 15, 2024) the formal booking of one of two suspects in the Brunett case. On the morning of June 13, 2024, 35 year-old Callie Brunett of Loranger was found deceased in her home on Cooper Road and her  two small children, Jalie (age 6) and Erin (age 4) were unaccounted for. Callihan and Victoria Cox were implicated in the crimes and the two were later located in Jackson, MS and taken into custody. Jalie was found alive but Erin was found deceased. On June 20, 2024 21st Judicial District Attorney Scott Perrilloux announced the indictments of Daniel Callihan and Victoria Cox.

Callihan is the primary suspect in the murder of Callie Brunett and her 4-year-old daughter, Erin, as well as the kidnapping of her other daughter, 6-year-old Jalie. Cox is charged with accessory after the fact to murder, first degree murder, aggravated kidnapping of a child, and second degree kidnapping.

Daniel Callihan, age 36, was booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail on Monday, July 15, 2024 on the following warrants:

  • 3 cts First Degree Murder (includes Indictment warrant)
  • 2 ct Aggravated Kidnapping of a Child (includes Indictment warrant)
  • 1 ct Second Degree Kidnapping (Indictment warrant)
  • 1 ct Armed Robbery
  • 1 ct Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling
  • 1 ct Simple Arson
  • 2 cts Theft of a Firearm
  • 1 ct Burglary of a Residence

Following the booking, Callihan was arraigned at the Tangipahoa Parish Courthouse on the charges included in the previously announced indictment by the 21st JDC District Attorney’s Office. Following the court appearance, Callihan was transported back to a facility outside of the parish.

Callihan and Fox also face charges in Mississippi.
