Two Arrested in Covington for Crimes Targeting Children for Sex

A joint operation led by the Office of the Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill's Cyber Crime Unit and hosted by the Covington Police Department, with assistance from the Department of Homeland Security, the United States Secret Service, and the Mandeville Police Department, led to the arrest of two men for crimes related to targeting children for sex.

  • William Clayton Byrd (30), of Biloxi, MS, was arrested on June 5 and charged with one count of Computer-Aided Solicitation of a Minor (Felony).

  • Philip Edward Walton (22), of Belle Chasse, was arrested on June 6 and charged with one count of Computer-Aided Solicitation of a Minor (Felony) and one count of Indecent Behavior with Juveniles (Felony).

"This successful operation is a testament to the tireless dedication of our investigators and our commitment to working alongside our partners to ensure the safety of our community's most vulnerable members," said Chief Michael Ferrell. "Protecting our children continues to be our top priority."
