James Louis Webb, Sr.

April 24, 1941 - June 4, 2024

James Louis Webb, Sr., age 83 and a resident of the Stony Point Community, passed away Tuesday morning June 4, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born April 24, 1941 and was the Co-Valedictorian of Mount Hermon High School Class of 1959. James then attended Louisiana College before graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in mathematics from Southeastern Louisiana University in 1963. He would later receive his Master’s Degree from Auburn University in 1965. 

He married Mary Michalos on December 19, 1964. Together they lived in Huntsville, Alabama and Houston, Texas while he was employed with IBM from 1965 until retiring in 1996 when he then served with the United Space Alliance for 10 years before retiring for good in 2006. James worked on the Sky Lab reentry program, the Space Shuttle and Saturn Rocket launches during his career and he was always very proud of the fact that he helped “put a man on the moon” during his service to the U.S. Space Program. He also lived in Baton Rouge for several years, before they moved back to Washington Parish in 2015. James was always a devoted husband, father and brother that enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Webb, Jr. and Natalie Webb of Ponchatoula, Gregory and Heather Webb of Prairieville; Daughter and Son in law: Stephanie and Kenneth Wimbish of Stony Point; Grandchildren and Spouses: Tyler Webb, Carson Webb, Phoenix Webb, Ariel Webb, Jeremiah Webb, Bailey Webb, Isabella Webb, Kathryn and Jonathan Jee, James and Samara Wimbish, Karis and Brenden Dugas, Kasandra Wimbish, Anissa Wimbish; Great-grandchildren: Hope Jee, Joy Jee, Ever Wimbish; Brother and Sister in law: Steve and Nell Webb of Watson; Sister: Louise Holmes of Mt. Hermon; Sisters in law and a Brother in law: Marie Webb of Franklinton, Charlotte Webb of Baton Rouge, Effie Michalos, Lisa and Jack Hoselle all of Metairie; Also numerous nieces, nephews and many friends

He was preceded in death by his parents Ernest Webb, Sr. and Zulea Ferrell Webb, brothers Tommy Ray Webb, Clyde Webb, brother and sisters in law Ernest Webb, Jr. and Winona Webb, sisters and brothers in law Mary Ethel and Leroy Young, Ernestine and Burnell Powell, Willene and Fleet Smith, Jr., brother in law Buddy Webb, an infant sister Lorraine Webb, father in law and mother in law Gus and Bessie Michalos, sister in law Elaine Nugent.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Saturday June 8th from 8:00 am until 11:00 am. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 am Saturday with Rev. Ray Wuerzer officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Hermon Cemetery.
