Sheila Cheyenne Sims

November 21, 1961 - June 12, 2024

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things are passed away. Revelation 21:4

Sheila Cheyenne Sims, a member of the Water Valley Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop Howard E. Quillen, Jr., a caring, thoughtful daughter, sister, and aunt, passed away June, 12, 2024.

Sheila was born November 21, 1961 to Vernell and Maxine Johnson. She was the oldest of eight children. She enjoyed taking rides, talking on the phone with her family and friends, and being a protecting daughter, sister, and aunt to her family. Despite facing multiple challenges in life, she never stopped from being one of the most outgoing people, who spreads joy and happiness to the people around her. She continued to love life and live her life to the fullest.

Sheila will be greatly missed by her family, including her parents, Vernell and Maxine Johnson; two brothers, Perry (Cassandra) Johnson of Fayetteville, NC and Richard (Denise) Johnson of Franklinton, LA; four sisters, Cheryl (Albert) Wilson of Pearland, TX, LaKeitha (Eld. Sterling) Halley, Deniqua (Keltron) Hewitt, and LaTonyette (Andra) Wilson all of Franklinton, LA; companion, Alton Tate of Franklinton, LA; and a host of nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.

Sheila was preceded in death by her husband, David Sims; sister, Phyllis Johnson; niece, Angel Hewitt; great-nephew, Blaze Stewart; paternal grandparents, Silas and Hollis Johnson and maternal grandparents, Tommie and Aretha Warner.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024 from 9:00AM – 11:00AM followed by the funeral service at 11:00AM at Water Valley Church of God in Christ with Bishop Howard E. Quillen, Jr., Officiating. Interment - Hayes United Methodist Church Cemetery.
